Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An exceptionally versatile, high-volume TIR semi-trailer is announced by the Primrose Third Axle Co Ltd, Blackburn, Lancs. It is a step-frame (ri-axle trailer which can quickly be transformed into a semi-lowloader by stacking the TIR tilt and framing on the fore deck, leaving a 30ft load space on the main platform. Twistlocks for the carriage of 20ft or 30ft containers are also fitted. In TIR form it offers 3100 cu ft of load space.

The 40ft-long trailer, Primrose model ADT3/32, has three 8-ton capacity axles with 8.25-15, 14-ply tyres. Single-leaf, underslung suspension is used, and the S-cam brakes are l2-in dia and 5in wide. With the 2ft 2-in step in the frame, the main platform height is kept down to 37in. The fabricated I-beams have no joints in the 6in wide and -(-in thick flanges.

The TIR superstructure is made up of rectangular hollow section mild steel pillars and tubular roof supports, with a pvc tilt cover. Sideboards are 2ft high and made from 18mm resin-bonded exterior plywood, edged with steel capping. Overall height is 13ft 2in.

The first of these multi-purpose trailers had been supplied to W. H. Bowker and Sons Ltd, Blackburn.
