Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Frameless all-aluminium tipping bodies to suit any make of semi-trailer chassis, are now being offered by Neville Truck Equipment Ltd, of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Notts.

The body design follows that of NTE's established semi-trailer dumpers, featuring continuously-welded ribs extending the full height of the sides and laterally below the floor. As the design avoids the need for underbody runners, tare weight has been kept to a minimum. A 2611 6in.-high body of 33 cu yd capacity weighs just over I ton.

Clean discharge of sticky loads has been a primary aim and bottom and front end corners incorporate a 10in, radius, while the front-end tipping gear is mounted externally rather than being recessed into the front bulkhead. With two-axle tractors the external ram also minimizes the chance of driving axle overloading, by effectively moving back the centre of gravity of the load.

Where the ribs wrap around the bottom corners, their side flanges are locally corrugated to give additional strength from the increased weld attachment area.

Lengths are from 1611 to 3611 and internal heights of 3ft upwards are listed. Full-length integral ribs in the floor panel provide extra impact resistance during the loading of rubble and so on. A double thickness lin• floor can be supplied for heavy-duty construction work.

Each tipping hinge extends forward from the hinge pin to a length of 711, and is bolted to the four rearmost main-ribs.

Angled pads guide the front of the body into line with the chassis frame as it is lowered. They also serve to locate the body laterally on the road.

A choice of tail-end configurations is available. The top-hinged tailboard and side-hinged door options are of all-welded aluminium construction, with robust vertical ribs 6in. wide and 4in. deep. Interior width is normally 7ft 7in. although a 7ft 2in. option is listed with a modified capping rail.
