Danny Bryan, 48, takes over from John Moore at the end of this month as leader of the Transport & General Workers Union's road transport commercial trade group. The post of RTC national secretary will put Bryan in charge of key pay talks with large transport employers. He has been a full-time TGWU officer for 24 years and represented truck drivers as an officer in West Bromwich and district secretary in Plymouth. Bryan's most recent position was national officer for the public services trade group, covering the ambulance service,

water companies and the Ministry of Defence. He would like to take his LGV test, but says it is more important for his job that he is "a professional negotiator".
