STOKE PROTESTS AGAINST APPEAL DECISION

A_ STRONGLY worded letter concern

ing the decision of the Minister of Transport in connection with the recent appeal of Stoke-on-Trent Corporation against the West Midland Traffic Commissioners' action in permitting local bus operators to abolish coupon fares, is being addressed to the Minister by the corporation.

It may be recalled that the inspector who heard the appeal refused to call upon the Potteries Electric Traction Co., Ltd., to produce its books. The corporation contends that the Traffic 844 Commissioners possess too much power and complains against the existing system of appeals. It is submitted that neither the Commissioners nor the Minister had sufficient evidence to be able to reach a fair decision.
