Welsh Councils and a Fire-engine • Purchase.

The question of whether Ystradgyn. leis and Pontardawe Councils shall each buy fire-engines or whether they shall combine in a joint scheme is now being discussed, The Ystradgynlais authority has notified Pontardawe Council that, unless agreement can be effected under which joint equipment should be paid for by the municipalities on a ra:,otible-valne basis, the council would consider buying its own engine and equipment.

The reply of the Pontardawe Council is that Ystradgynlais should reconsider the former authority's previous offer for purchasing on a basis other than that of rateable value. In the event of Ystradgynlais failing to accept Pontardawe will buy its own equipment.
