CM COVER STORY A HOAX CALL LEFT Lancashire haulier Ainsworth &Martin unable to access one of its depots last week.
The Preston-based haulier also runs a small depot in Goss
ington, Gloucester, and a hoax call was made to the landlord of the Gossington site to say the company had ceased trading.
As a result the landlord locked the site.
However Stephen Dunn, managing director at Ainsworth & Martin, says the company is still in business and managed to sort out the problem with the landlord within an hour.
"It was an unfortunate situation, but it has been resolved. We have made three drivers redundant at the Gossington site and this hoax call was made on the day they left, however I don't believe one of the drivers made the call.
"Whoever did this acted maliciously because they had also informed the local press."
Dunn adds the redundancies had been made as a result of work being transferred to the Preston depot.
Of the operator's 100-strong fleet, five trucks are based at Gossington.
