Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Brian Weatherley • The long-awaited Mercedes 17-tonne rigid and 26-tonne multi-wheeler will make their debut at the Hanover Show in September with a new 6.37-litre in-line six-cylinder engine delivering up to 275hp.

But UK operators looking to replace their 1820s and 2527s will have to wait until early next year before they arrive in right-hand-drive form.

The 0M906 six-cylinder diesel is the big brother of the four-pot charge-cooled 900 Series engine recently revealed in the German truck maker's latest Atego middleweights (CM 26 Feb-4 March). It features three valves per cylinder, unit pumps and full electronic engine management.

By the middle of next year Mercedes-Benz UK should also have an Actros eight-legger. Although Actros 8x4s are already available as left-hookers they have a heavy-duty spec which would be uncompetitive for the British market. Righthand-drive Actros 8x4s will be targeted specifically at UK operating conditions.

Right-hand-drive Actros trac tors are now available with an 111,8 single-reduction back axle which, in combination with the 16-speed direct-drive box, is designed to offer superior fuel economy over the previous combination of hub reduction with an overdrive box.
