EXPORTS of Bedford commercial 1—, vehicles earned a record £344m. last year, with sales rising by 14 per cent above the 1963 figure; 52,060 Bedford truck and bus chassis and vans were shipped abroad during the year. Sales of Bedford truck models were restricted to some extent by limited manufacturing capacity. Even so, 45,885 Bedford trucks—nearly half of all British truck exports—were sold overseas last year.
In Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand, Bedford was the best-selling truck of any make. In Sweden and Holland, Bedford was the best-selling imported truck.
