al 0 Mr. R. E. H. Braithwaite has been appointed chief engineer of the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., with effect from July 1, when Mr. L. M. Parker is to retire. Mr. Braithwaite, who at present is chief engineer of the Yorkshire Traction Co. Ltd., will join the staff of Northern General on June I. He joined Midland Red in 1949 as a junior assistant engineer, became assistant engineer of the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. in 1951, and took up his present position with Yorkshire Traction in 1960.

Resulting from the reorganization of the Nottingham and Leicester sales territories of The Skefko Ball Bearing Co. Ltd. into one East Midland area, Mr. C. W. Lythgoe has been appointed manager of the new area. This will be centred on the company's offices at 90 Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, 1. MrLythgoe, who joined Skefko in 1930, has been branch manager at Nottingham since 1959.

Mr. D. J. Bickley, general sales manager of The Globe Pneumatic Engineering Co. Ltd., Harold Hill, Romford, has been appointed to the board as sales director.

Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. has appointed Mr. R. M. Raynham as sales representatives for the north-west area of London and the adjoining Home Counties. Mr. Raynham was formerly with W. and J. Boyes and Son Ltd., London.

Mr. C. E. Lindskog, managing director of AB Svenska Kullagerfabriken (SKF), has been appointed vice-chairman of The Skefko Ball Bearing Co. Ltd., of Luton. Mr. Lindskog, who joined SKF in 1933, was managing director of Skefko from July, 1960, until June East year, when he transferred to SKF Gothenburg to take up the position of deputy managing director in charge of sales. He was appointed managing director of AB Svenska Kullagerfabriken—the Swedish parent company of the international SKF organization—last December, in succession to the late Mr. Inge Stenberg. Mr. Stenberg was . vice-chairman of Skefko from January, 1964, until his death last November.

Mr. L. 3. (Louis) Tichelly, managing director of Felco Hoists Ltd. for the past 31 years. has relinquished that position and has been appointed vice-chairman of the company. Mr, L A. Holmes, secretary of Felco Hoists, who last month was appointed to the board, becomes general manager.

Mr. William Hepworth, for some years on the coach sales staff of Les Gleave Ltd., Crewe and district, is to join Barton Townley Ltd., Ford depot, Lancaster, as commercial vehicle sales manager.

Mr. G. W. K. Fen-Smith and Mr. 3. H. Pascoe have been appointed directors of Corral! and Associated Companies Ltd., major members of the Powell Duffryn Group operating in Southern England as shippers and distributors of coal and fuel oil, wharfingers, stevedores and haulage contractors. They will serve under Mr. Peter Havvksfield, whose appointment as chairman of the Corrall companies was recently announced as part of reorganization moves in the Powell Duffryn Group, Mr. Hawksfield, a member of the board of Powell Duffryn Ltd., retains the managing directorship of the Corralls companies, an appointment he has held since 1958. He has been in the fuel distributive trade since 1936, when he joined his own family business at Dover. Mr. Pascoe, aged 33, is the Corrall Group's chief accountant and will continue in this capacity, also assisting the chairman in administrative matters. He joined Corrall in 1959.

Mr. C. Rhoades MacBride has resigned as chairman, president and a director of Mack Trucks Inc., of U.S.A. Mr. Zenon C. R. Hansen has been elected president and chief executive officer of the company. Mr. Hansen recently resigned as executive vice-president and a director of White Motor Company. He was president of Diamond T. Motor Car Co. before it was acquired by White Motor Company in 1958,

Mr. Sydney T. Brown, for the past 21 years transport manager of Rugby Portland Cement Co. Ltd., is to retire at the end of March. He will he succeeded by Mr. K. J. Harvey, assistant transport manager for the past 18 years.

Mr. G. Michael Gilbert has been appointed sales manager of the safety belt division of Britax (London) Ltd.

Mr. James B. Batty, deputy general manager of Bolton transport department, has been appointed transport general manager and engineer,

Mr. Herbert King, chief inspector with the Sunderland District Omnibus Co. Ltd., has retired after 41 years' service. The Commission of the European Economic Community has appointed Mr. Paolo Rho director general of transport in succession of Mr. Bruno Minoletti. At the time of his appointment Mr. Rho was inspector-in-chief of the Italian State Railways, having special duties in the director general's office.

Mr. Robed Newman has been appointed Press officer to Pirelli Ltd. He joins the company from Commercial Plastics Ltd., where he was group public relations officer. Mr. J. Moore is to join Hubert H. P. frist and Co. Ltd., the Bristol brake and hitch lining manufacturers, as home ales manager early this month.

Harrington has resigned as sales manager of the manufacturing division of Thomas Harrington Ltd. and is to take up an appointment as director of the Arlington Motor Group's bodybuilding division, which includes present factories in London and Bristol, together with a further new factory being planned, Mr. Frank Roberts, cleansing and transport superintendent of Birkenhead, will be installed as president of the Institute of Public Cleansing at that body's 67th Annual Conference to be held at Scarborough from June I to 4. Mr. Roberts has spent 35 years in local authority service and took up his present appointment in 1946. For the past five years he has been hon. secretary to the I P C examinations board.

Mr. F. K. Pointon has been appointed a director of Greenslades Tours Ltd. and has been elected chairman of the company in succession to Mr. E. L. Taylor, who has resigned from the board in view of his impending retirement.
