Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

i‘ MODIFIED application to revise ri fares was made to the North Western Traffic Commissioners by the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., on Monday, after a decision on an earlier application had been withheld at the company's request (The Commercial Motor, May 15).

The new application was lodged because Budget day fell shortly after the original application was made. This was for an all-round revision designed to produce nearly E40,000 towards estimated deficits this year, and was opposed by 14 councils and various individuals.

In some cases fares lower than those originally requested are being sought. NEW B.R.S. WAREHOUSE OPENS AT TUNSTALL THE official inauguration of the new warehouse at the Tunstall, Stoke-onTrent, depot of British Road Services took place on Tuesday. A demonstration of modern handling methods followed the opening.

Although warehouse facilities for pottery and china have existed with B.R.S. at Stoke for some time, increased traffic has made the new premises essential.

The new establishment, at High Street, Tunstall, is equipped with modern racking and the latest mechanical handling appliances. As previously, the B.R.S. shipping warehouse will enable manufacturers to clear consignments from factories, the goods being held pending forwarding instructions.

MORE ONE-MAN BUSES

SIX more country bus routes were converted by London Transport to one-man operation on Wednesday. RF-type 39-seaters are being used. The routes are from Kernel Hempstead to Chaulden, Watford Junction to Hemel Hempstead, Warners End and King's Langley, Bishop's Stortford to Hertford, and Toothill to Epping.

The Bishop's Stortford-Hertford route was previously worked by doubledeckers. On the Toothill-Epping service the RF 39-seaters have replaced GS 26-seaters.

NO PREFERENCE FOR RAIL

THE transport committee of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce have considered a proposal that railway officials should be asked to address specially arranged meetings to give an authoritative account of railway facilities and services. Members of the committee contended that it would be unfair for the Chamber to go out of their way to aid the railways without offering some comparable assistance to road hauliers.
