On Tuesday, Captain A. U. M. Hudson, M.P., Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, received a deputation comprising representatives of the coal industry,. Commercial Motor Users Association, National Road Transport Employers' Federation, Sentinel Waggon Works, Ltd., Coal Merchants' Federation and London and Counties Coke Association.

The leader, Mr. H. H. Merrett, the South Wales colliery owner, stated that since 1931, 5,000 steam wagons had disappeared from the roads. This meant at least 2,500 miners out of employment. Captain Hudson promised to give careful consideration to the case.
