A SLOVENIAN DRIVER who was directed off the M20 when it was closed for the Tour de France on Sunday 8 July got his LGV wedged in the village of Mereworth, near Maidstone in Kent.

The driver, who had never driven in the UK before, says his sat-nay directed him through the village.

Kent Police were called in at Spm following reports that an artic was trapped on Beech Road in Mereworth.

Kent police report: -A wall and hedges were damaged. At approximately 11.36am on 9 July. the Highways Agency attended the scene with a crane to remove the vehicle." The recovery team had to remove 22 tonnes of paper from the trailer before they were able to free the vehicle.
