• by Mks Ritual' Two troubled haulage companies which are run by two brothers and bear similar names are both considering appealing against the loss of their Operator's Licences in the two countries in which they operate.

Murray Brady, owner of Kilsyth Transport By, is continuing to operate in Holland while he appeals against the revocation of his Dutch 0-licence in mid-June.

In the UK, George Brady director of Kilsyth Transport Services, is considering an appeal against the revocation of his UK 0-licence by Scottish Traffic Commissioner Michael Betts at about the same time.

George Brady is particularly angered by the five-year disqualification imposed by the IC. He denies moving his company abroad as a ploy to get around the ban and stresses that the two companies are not linked. "I am now running a freight forwarding firm and no longer operate any vehicles," he adds.

'We have 40 or so subcontractors and I don't give any of the work to my brother's (Dutch) firm. Murray has been running a firm in Holland for two years and it's nothing to do with me.

'We were in the process of winding up the UK firm before we lost our licence, but the fiveyear ban is ridiculous. Most of the hours offences were drivers going 15 minutes over—it was completely over the top."

Colin Patey-Jones of the agency TMN, which helped Murray Brady set up the Dutch firm, says the company has been given interim authority to operate while its appeal is heard.

"All the paperwork is in place and we are confident its licence will be restored," he adds.

The UK company Kilsyth Transport Services had an 0licence for 20 vehicles; Kilsyth Transport BV is understood to be running 18 vehicles.
