Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tions allow me to tow a trailer with a 1964 Bedford 8-tonner fitted with airassisted brakes? If so, would the trailer have to come within certain limits as to weight, length and braking system ?

A The new Regulations do not prohibit you " from hauling a drawbar trailer with your Bedford 8-tanner but the MoT Standard Lists do not give a maximum gross combination rate for this model. It will all depend on the braking performance that can be obtained with the combined vehicle and trailer. The main brakes will have to give a 40 per cent efficiency and the second means of application 15 per cent.

The current maximum laden weight for a two-axle drawbar trailer is 16 tons and the maximum length can now be 12 metres (approximately 39ft 4.5in.).
