In these days of amalgamations, of joint ventures and PTAs, it is interesting to note that Ramsbottom Urban District Council has broken away from its two partnersRawtenstall and Haslingden, after a number of years of joint managership of their municipal transport—and is operating independently and doing it pretty successfully if the retention of its 3d minimum fare is anything to go by.
Since last November, J. Mort has taken over the care of the 12-strong bus fleet, surely one of the smaller undertakings in the country, and has continued maintaining and operating the buses as before. And the ratepayers seem far from dissatisfied.
