• The Midland General Omnibus Co. Ltd., was accused at Ilkeston, Derbyshire, of 88 offences of allowing drivers to continue work without having had sufficient rest. Forty-five bus drivers were also accused of driving without sufficient rest.
The company was fined £2 on each summons and ordered to pay £21 costs. The drivers were fined £2 on each summons—a total of £176. All had pleaded guilty.
A representative of the company expressed oncern for the offences. He said it could only eve arisen from the desire by the firm and
• rivers to see the public received the kind of ervice it paid for. What happened in this case as that the drivers drove on private hire in he evening after their normal tour of morning nd afternoon duty.
