• Once again drivers from the BMC Morris division gained a major share of the prizes on their home ground at Oxford when they fielded the 1968 champion, two other class winners, four runners-up and the winning team on Sunday. S. (3. Shepheard, a regular competitor who missed last year's conest, took the main trophy and the 1967 champion, Morris team-mate D. Faulkner, as second in class H to tanker man B. J. priggs.

The tanker ranks were in fact reduced coniderably by the withdrawal of all of the 11 e.hell-Mex and BP entries and two from Petroina. Weekend work consequent on the rail ispute was said to be the reason. There was !so a mass withdrawal of Rank Xerox vehcies: of the 12 entered only three, all artics, urned up at the Pressed Steel Fisher site at owl ey.

BMC was represented in all classes except 2 and F2. In class El the Corporation's man, . Keen, was equal on points with Caversham aulage Co.'s Albion driver, B. A. Absolam, nd, according to Rule 8, the tie was settled n best performance in the road section. The oser, Absalam, however, had the consolation f taking the "best other than C licenceaintenance prize.

Despite a rainy afternoon the organizing ommittee of the Oxford Road Safety Organianon, under the dynamic leadership of its ecretary, Jim Wall, put through the progmme of 97 starters with customary efficieny so that the Lord Mayor, Aid. P. S. Spokes, as able to begin the prize distribution right n schedule at 5 p.m.
