Mr. Richard Le Fevre, general manager of Halifax Corporation's passenger transport department since 1956, is to retire in October. He came to Halifax from Bury where he had been general manager of the Corporation's transport department for 12 years. Earlier, he was assistant engineer at Plymouth and general manager at Leigh. He has been in the passenger transport industry for more than 40 years.

Mr. Charles Grigg has resigned as a director of the Triplex subsidiary WeldallGrigg Ltd. and will give undivided attention to his position as chairman and managing director of Grigg Hydraulics Ltd.

Mr. N. T. Wass, at present assistant secretary or the Western and Southern National Omnibus Companies Ltd.. has been appointed secretary of Cumberland Motor 'Services Ltd. and will take up his appointment shortly.

The Lord Wakefield of Hythe Gold Medal for 1963 was presented to Mr. J. A. C. Williams, principal of The College of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering, Chelsea, London. S.W.3.

Ms. A. J. Price has been appointed by the Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd. as district superintendent of the company's Hastings area, which includes Bexhill, Rye and Battle. Mr. Price, who took up his duties on Monday, succeeded Mr. D. J. Meredith, who was recently appointed to the Medway Towns area.

Mr. M. H. Winter has been appointed sales manager of the Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd. at the King's Norton, Birmingham. factory. His activities will cover all Triplex products except those of the aircraft division.

Mr. H. Lawson has been appointed to the board of F. J. Evans Ltd. Mr. Lawson joined Evans in February, 1947, at the age of 28, becoming general manager in February, 1955. He was appointed secretary in January, 1958.

Mr. G. F. Kemp has been appointed general sales manager of Pritchett and Gold and E.P.S. Co. Ltd., manufacturers of Dagenite batteries. Mr. R. E. Wright succeeds Mr. Kemp as manager of the company's home automotive division.

Mr. S. Gordon Sloan has been appointed a director of Horstman Ltd., precision engineers of Bath, a subsidiary company of Simms Motor and Electronics Corporation Ltd.

Mr. John Lindsell has been appointed Southern area municipal and corporation representative for Strachans (Coachbuilders) Ltd. and Mr. R. Robson a sales administrator. Mr. Lindsell was for many years with Park Royal Vehicles Ltd. and Mr. Robson was previously outside contracts manager for Saunders-Roe, Westland Aircraft division. Following the purchase of Weymann's Ltd. by the Metropolitan-Seammell Carriage and Wagon Co. Ltd., Sir Ralp.. R. Emerson has become chairman of Weymann's, replacing Mr. C. G. Allott who has resigned together with Mr. R. E. Everest, Mr. F. H. Formby, Mr. A. W. T. MeGaw and Mr. G. W. Scott. Mr. D. J. C. Robertson and Mr. W. Scott. Metropolitan-Seammell directors, have become directors of Weymann's.

CUr. J. N. G. Lloyd has been appointed a member of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for the West Midland Area.

CHF.. R. H. Williams has been appointed -a member •of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for Wales and Monmouthshire.

Mr. C. West has been appointed sales manager of Pinfold Plant Ltd., North Staffs distributors for J. C. Bamford (Excavators) Ltd. Mr. West was formerly employed in the sales office ,of J.C.B.

Mr. Norman R. A. Riles, publicity manager of C.A.V. since 1947, retired from the company at the end of June. He is succeeded by Mr. F. J. Welch, C.A.V. sales promotion manager.

Obituary

WE regret to record the deaths of Mr. A. S. Cheston and Mr. George Dawson. Mr. Cheston, who was chairman arid joint managing director of Hallam, Sleigh and Cheston Ltd. of Birmingham, died recently in his 86th year. Mr. Dawson, for many years a partner in the bus firm of Hylton and Dawson, Glenfield. Leicestershire, has died at the age of 68.
