New Engine Tester and Tuner

LAA NEW engine tester and tuner, known as the Motormaster, is now available from Crypton EquipMent, Ltd., Bridawater, Somerset. It is stated that all phases of engine operation can be checked in seven tests requiring only some 10 minutes.

Instead of testing all circuits and components separately, as has been done up to the present, the new tester checks groups of circuits and components in single operations. These Checks are said to show accurately the engine area resnonsible for trouble and enable the exact cause to be quickly located.

Guillotine for Wire Rope AGUILLOTINE cutter for wire rope which needs only a heavy hammer to operate it, is now obtainable in three capacities from the Tulloch Construction Co., Ltd., 70 Brighton Road, Sutton, Surrey, The Tullcon No. 1 will cut ropes up to *-in. diameter and costs £5 5s., No. 2 is for ropes up to 1-in, diameter, costing 18 8s., whilst the No. 3 (£.12 12s.) will deal with ropes up to 11-in. diameter.

Portable Greasing Unit THE latest addition to the range of 1. lubrication equipment produced by Centralube, Ltd., Park Royal 'Road, London, N.W.10, is a portable highpressure greasing unit known as the Multigreaser Model FAE.

Two sizes are available, giving grease outputs of 25 lb. and 50 lb. per hour at a maximum pressure of 1,500 p.s.i. A swashplate pump is driven usually by an electric motor, but can be powered by a small petrol or oil engine, and supplies grease through a high-pressure flexible hose and -grease gun.

The complete unit is normally n14 mounted on a four-wheeled trolley and can be fitted with a container of 33 lb. or 66 lb.. capacity, cost varying between £150 and £280, depending largely on size and method of drive.

Many Uses for Cleaner

DOLYCLENS, a cleaning fluid made

by Polycell Products, Ltd., 84 Albert Street, London, N.W.1, when undiluted has a strong degreasing action and can be used for cleaning garage floors, removing obstinate marks from bodywork, or cleaning the hands.

Appropriately diluted, the product can be employed for a variety of tasks, including cleaning paint brushes and washing vehicles. A representative of The Ccnninercial Motor used two tablespoonsful of Polyclens in a bucket of warm water to wash his car and found the results as satisfactory as those from employing costlier liquid shampoos. Absence of lathering simplified rinsing.

Polyclens is sold in 10-oz. bottles at 2s. 10d., cans at 15s., and in larger containers. It is used by the makers for cleaning their own vehicles.

New Type of Slotted Angle PRINCIPAL features of Rocano, the latest form of slotted angle, are its non-slip four-point lock and two-in-one T-sections which can, in many cases, replace the two conventional L angles for joining purposes.

Five sizes-1+ in. by If in. (12 g.) for light framework, 1+ in. by I+ in. (12 g.) for racks and partition uprights, 2 in. by 1 in. (14 g.) for extra-rigid fraines, 3 in. by 1+ in (14 g.) for benches, trolleys and gantries, and 2 in. by 1 in. T-sections—are available from the Rocano Sales Co., 79-85 Davies Street, London, W.I.

Captive Plug Washer A, SIMPLE and effective answer to the problem of fitting or removing a deeply recessed'parking plug without losing the copper seating washer has been found by the makers of K.L.G. sparking plugs.

All 11). mm. and 14 mm. plugs in their range are now being fitted with washers having a small tongue on their inner Pye Introduce F.M. Sets TO meet demands from certain export markets and from those home users who prefer frequency-modulated twoway radio equipment to amplitudemodulated, Pye Telecommunications, Ltd., Newmarket Road, Cambridge, have introduced new sets which work on the F.M. system. Production of A.M. equipment will continue.

The fixed-station set is designated P.T.C. F.M. 870112 and it can be used in conjunction with any of a number of transceivers made for installation in vehicles for simplex or duplex working. The equipment operates in the 25-174 Mcis band and with a channel spacing of 40, 50 or 60 Ws.

Cost of the F.M. equipment is about 10 per cent. higher than A.M., but F.M. signals are less liable to be affected by interference. circumference which holds tfie washer captive to the thread. This tongued washer is said to run easily down the thread and place itself naturally in the grooved base.
