Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A COMPLETE range of hydraulic r materials-handling equipment, based on the use of several containers with one vehicle, and manufactured by Bennes-Marrel, St. Etienne, France, is now available in this country from the sole concessionnaires, Aero Maintenance Equipment, Ltd., 100a Clapham Park .Rd., London, S.W.4.

Although a variety of buckets, of 44-40-cu.-yd. capacity, and containers-is available, the standard article takes the form of a double scow-ended bucket.

A number of these can be used with one vehicle, enabling turn-round times to be speeded up.

A platform body on the vehicle carries the bucket which is secured while in transit. Lifting arms on each side of the vehicle chassis are powered by hydraulic rams, and load and unload the bucket in a longitudinal direction from ground level, connection being by means of suitable chains. The bucket remains parallel to the ground during this process.

Should tipping of the load be required, the rear of the bucket is retained by hook clamps and the lifting arms operated. In this way it is possible to achieve a tipping angle of up to 90 degrees.

Varfous types of side arm are available, permitting container loading over obstructions or enabling the equipment to be used as a mobile crane.

All controls are situated in the driver's cab, whilst hydraulic power is supplied by a pump driven from a power take-off on the vehicle gearbox.

Principal claiin for the system is that a truck so equipped can move up to six times as much material in a given time as an equivalent conventional type.
