The material is called Nitrophyr and is a solid, closed • cell, moulded compound which makes the float leakproof even When a hole is drilled completely through it. It is crushproof, chemically resistant to all fuels and additives and is not affected in any way by corrosion. An added advantage is that the use of .Nitrophyl moulded floats allows a greater flexibility in float shapes with good control of density and weight, reducing restrictions in the design of fuel bowls.
Dimensional tolerances can be held as close as stamped parts and the total weight of the float can be held to +0.5 gm. The lever arm or float bracket can be attached during the curing cycle or can be moulded as an integral part of the float.
