Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Ministry of Supply has placed a contract with David Brown Tractors, Ltd., Huddersfield, for the construction of a new tractor, model V1G. 1C., which will be capable of towing the heaviest aircraft built. One prototype has been in use for some two years.

The V1G. 1C. weighs 11,000 lb. and has a drawbar pull of 7,500 lb., which may be increased by the addition of ballast. A friction clutch supplements the turbotransmitter, and gearchanges can be effected while the tractor is in motion. On the previous model, fitted with only a turbo transmitter, t h e tractor had to be stopped before a new gear could be selected.

A six-position hitch is fitted to the tractor to the rear of the winch, to suit the' varying heights of aircraft towing wheels. The winch is of a reversing type, the rope being paid out under power. A larger engine is now employed.

Small numbers of the. VIG. IC. will be available for the commercial .market when Government commitments have been met.
