Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Containerlift's fleet includes 22 sidelifters that operate from bases around the country. These can lift any size of container as long at it is a standard ISO measurement and does not weigh more than 30 tonnes. The company also has 50 conventional skeletal trailers and three tipper skeletals. Most of the trailers are Dennison. The company also runs a fleet of Volvo and MAN tractor units, but they are mainly on contract hire.

Managing director Joost Baker reckons it makes sense to standardise on one or two manufacturers because it is simpler in terms of training and parts.

He adds that any standard tractor unit can be used to pull the sidelifters.

Containerlift employs 80 drivers. Owner Doug Baker says it has enough drivers to cover holidays and peak times, and the company even pays drivers extra holiday pay to take their annual leave in the winter to ensure there are not too many drivers off at the same time in the summer.

"We don't use agency drivers because they are expensive. Now we have Truckcom fitted in all our cabs, it would take two days to train them before we could send them out on the road. That is not cost effective."
