owed £15,000 by a Kent logistics firm for work dating back to October, despite repeated calls to the firm and appearing in CM to highlight his plight (11 December 2003).

Nick Blurton worked on Canterbury-based Whitefriar International's contract with Dutch firm Stok Continental Services last September. In December Whitefriar told him the delay was because it had not been paid by Stok.

Two months on Blurton has received two small payments but he is still owed £12,000 plus legal costs, which brings the total to 05,000. Blurton says: -I have already had to sell three of my four trucks back to the finance company. I don't know for how much longer I will be able to trade before I have to hand the last one over.

"1 now have to sell my house or face eviction. I could be out on the streets with my three-month-old baby. Whitefriar has been coming up with excuse after excuse as to why they can't pay me."

Steve Thompson from Whitefriar says the company is no longer working for Stok but he believes it will be paid soon.

"It's not just Nick Blurton that has everything on the line — we have also got a lot to lose," he says.
