from a special correspondent • As part of their development since, becoming members of the John Brown Engineering Group, Taskers Trailers have expanded their spares and service facilities and now claim to offer an unusually comprehensive service—through five stockists as well as at their Andover factory and their depots at Burton-on-Trent, Garstang, Cumbernauld and Rochford, Essex.

At Andover and the company depots, Taskers will repair trailers of any manufacture and a fifth-wheel service is available for all makes of tractive unit. Pre-DoE testing is offered alongside a DoE-standard brake test service.

Container repairs are growing at Andover, especially as the Southampton roll-on ferry services expand, and service manager Mr Roy Hyslop reports increasing numbers of trailers coming in for twistlocks to be fitted for container work.

Each new trailer sold is accompanied by a service manual listing daily and weekly checks, and Taskers are 'finding increasing demand for their own seevicing routine—a 5000-mile check which :takes only four hours, and a really thorough overhaul every six months. Another time-saving facility is the service-exchange filth-wheel, which ' involves a while-you-wait replacement of top plate and coupling. , A challenge to operators who complain : of difficulty in getting emergency roadside service is contained in Mr Hyslop's claim that "within half an hour of receiving an emergency call we can guarantee to send someone out to the rescue". The 24-hour service operates from Andover and the depots.

Recent complete reappraisal of spares requirements havjed to a:trebling, by value, of stocks. Taskers claim to dispatch 90 per cent of all spares orders' within 24 hours. Their stocks include complete Rubery Owen running gear.

Yet another expanding business is in contract maintenance for fleet operators within 50 miles of Andover;
