L°NOON. TRANSPORT has recently placed in service this new survey vehicle, used to survey roads for bus operation. It is a .. specially modified Thames mini-bus, equipment • including the distance recording • apparatus which consists of a retractable wheel driving a mileage recording head. AlsO fitted is a Tel-recorder (automatically recording on paper speed, distance _travelled, time taken and length of any stops), a gradient gauge, clock, and telescopic mast to check clearances for double-deck buses.

Similar vehicles have been operated by London Transport for 35 years; the latest vehicle replaced a 10-year-old machine.
