Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW 2-3-ton oil-engincd chassis, one of which was shown at the Brussels Salon in January, is now being noduced by Dodge Bros. (Britain), Ltd., Kew, Surrey. Two models are ivailable, an 11-ft. 9-in.-wheelbase :hassis, with a basic price of £810, and longer version of 13-ft. 9-in, wheelbase, costing £820, which is intended for 15-ft. body.

The longer vehicle is for the domestic market only. The standard tyre equipment, 7.00-20 in. of 10-ply rating, affords a gross vehicle weight of 51 tons, but 6.50-20-in. tyres of 8-ply rating can be fitted, reducing the basic price by £23, the gross weight being restricted to 51 tons.

The chassis is similar to the Dodge 2-3-ton petrol-engined model, but an additional cross-member is provided at the rear of the Perkins P4 unit and the hand-brake lever is attached separately )n the frame. Special mountings are provided for the power unit, top-gear torsional oscillation being absorbed by rubber in shear, whilst torque reaction in the indirect ratios is limited by rubber buffers on the frame side member. A sandwich-type front support takes the weight of the engine by rubber in compression.

The engine, a four-cylindered unit, is set to give 55 b.h.p. at 2,400 r.p.m. and 135 lb.-ft. torque is delivered at 1,200 r.p.m. in conjunction with the four-speed direct-drive-top gearbox and 5.85 to 1 ratio of the rear axle spiralbevel drive, the maximum speed is about 40 m.p.h. A standard 11-in.diameter clutch is employed. The new model has 12-volt electrical equipment and a 16-gallon fuel tank. .

The Dodge all-welded cab is fitted and is resiliently mounted on six rubber-bonded bobbins to a■oid metallic contact.
