Mileage Drop ToNNAGE carried by British Road L Services during 1953 was 2m. lower than in 1952-39.6m., compared with 41.6m. The mileage covered was 677.9m.. as against 705.5m., a drop of 27.6m.
The number of passengers carried by Tilling buses last year rose by 0.3 per cent. and that of passengers on the vehicles of Scottish Omnibuses by 0.4 per cent. The mileage coVered by the vehicles of both groups rose by 0.5 per cent.
London Transport motorbuses and coaches carried 35.8 per cent. more passengers, and trolley buses and trams 23.5 per cent. fewer.
