THE need for more road transport

at Aberdeen fish market was stressed last week by Mr. Alex M. Cordiner, chairman of the Aberdeen Fish Trade Association, when he supported an application by Mr. John Cran, Aberdeen. for an additional B-licence vehicle.

Mr. Cran 'said he started in business 17 years ago with a horse and cart, and traffic had steadily increased. He needed an extra lorry for work within a five-mile radius of the market.

Mr. Cordiner explained that landings at Aberdeen had more than doubled over the past few years, and the demand for transport was urgent. Fish was also brought from the north by road to be dealt with there.

"We have got over 8,000 boxes of fish lying in the fish market today and we don't have facilities to deal with them," he declared.

Despite" an objection by another haulier, Mr. G. M. Morrison, the application was granted by Mr. Alex Robertson, Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority.
