Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the year ended March 31, 1958, the Central Electricity Generating Board received 8im. tons of coal by road, but as the result of the new agreement between the Board and the railways this figure might fail to 5m. this year.

This information was given to The Commercial Motor by a C.E.G.B. spokesman on Monday. He added that the transfer of 3m. tons of traffic to the railways was still a matter for discussion with road haulage interests.

It was not intended wholly to abandon road transport. Many power stations were supplied from scattered pits from which it would be uneconomic to take rail delivery.
