00% of British bank robbers used Ford Transits as their getaway vehicles (presumably the other 10% used Mk2 Jags), and as a consequence the Mk] Tranny made countless appearances in The Sweeney. But
why was it every blagger's favourite companion? Not only was there room for the entire gang, their ill-gotten gains and a handful of shooters, hut it was relatively quick too (at least compared with the competition). Oh, and it was perfect for driving through the neat piles of empty cardboard boxes that filled London's streets in the '70s!
