Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Good communication about what is happening in the parks is vital to the smoothrunning of the business. Large event organisers who contact Pontins Southport head office are advised as to which park might suit them, according to factors such as the facilities it has available, its size and its location. As well as needing an indication as to what products will need to be delivered, Pontins has to consider obtaining council licences or advice from the Fire Service or the Police for dance events.

"We discuss what we're going to do within the business right from the beginning," sales and marketing director Jason Brindle says.

There also needs to be strong liaison between different internal departments. There is a central buying department, which amalgamates the forecasted needs of the different parks and then negotiates a single deal with a supplier. The parks I then order directly from the supplier using an agreed list and the products are despatched to them.

'What products the parks are able to buy is decided centrally, but how much of each they order is down to them," Brindle says.

"We negotiate the best prices and delivery costs and can benefit from the investment the suppliers have made in their networks. From the suppliers' point of view, they are always interested in distributing large amounts to limited numbers of locations."
