Wheel alignment checks

THE range of American equipment marketed by Hill Equipment Ltd. has recently been added to with the Hunter Tune-a-Line wheel aligner. This can be used for checks on castor, camber, toe-in, kingpin inclination, turning angle and rear-wheel tracking. It is electrically powered and is claimed to be a simple machine to use.

The Tune-a-Line is said to be the only mechanical alignment instrument that will give a complete check for wheel settings. A feature is that by setting dials for correct toe-in and so on "beacons flash and buzzers sound" when the correct adjustment has been made.

ANEW oil called Shell Transmission Oil CV has been introduced primarily for Pneumocyclic gearboxes and anglehive units of Leyland Atlantean buses. It is reported that service rials in Liverpool on Atlanteans with an average weekly mileage if 1,000 have shown that the new oil gives improved gearbox :leanliness and reduced clutch wear over extended drain periods. Shell state that the oil is also suitable for fluid couplings and nanual gearboxes requiring an SAE 80 gear oil.

AN IMPROVED method of repairing punctures in tubeless tyres is provided by Stenor Seal. This is a repair strip which can be sed to repair small holes, cuts and short slits in tyres whether on ie crown, shoulder or sidewall.

No solution is needed with Stenor Seal, the strip being simply iscrted in the hole with a special tool. Removing the tool leaves the trip in position but with a "head" inside the tyre for complete ;entity. It is said that Stenor Seal cures itself to the tyre casing tpidly at normal running temperatures and that repairs can be pmpleted in 1 min.

Hydraulic tail lift

NEW hydraulic tail lift designed to provide easier loading and quicker operation is announced by US! Engineering Ltd. The lift has a capacity of 30 cwt. and incorporates a strengthened platform which does not require the support linkage as fitted to previous models.

A feature of this new design is the uninterrupted access which is now possible from all sides. The method of opening the new tail gate is claimed to be a simpler and quicker operation, there being only two locating pins in the system.

Special self-closer cams have been incorporated in the new design so that after replacing the retaining pins the tail gate will automatically close during its final upward movement.

As with the previous models, power for the hydraulic pump which operates the tail lift can be supplied direct from the gearbox through a p.t.o., or through an independent electric motor operated from the vehicle battery or from an outside source.

Chassis lubricator

AFLAME-PROOF version of its MI electrically driven automatic chassis lubricating system has been announced by Lubrication Equipment Ltd. Approval of the equipment has been given by the Home Office so that it can be used on semi-trailers carrying petroleum spirit or other flammable liquids.

Kit for greasing

NINE different accessories which will cope with almost all types of grease nipple, and a standard Wanner 315 lever-type grease gun make up the Wanner 315 combination kit now available from Step Industrial Equipment Ltd.
