Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

New and used trailer dealership H LL Davies has taken a one dimensional approach with its vvebsite — but it does the job.

Company: H LL Davies Address: www.hIldavies.co.ok

OVERVIEW The used truck and trailer trade often draws criticism for being too simplistic, offering basic websites with little content. H LL Davies. based in Chester, falls into this category. Its home page offers two sets of listings, across the top and down the side, with spaces for future additions, and a link straight to the website's designer, Freestart.

There is a list option but only once you have selected a page. Each trailer has an identification number, a picture and a list of details. There are no links to any manufacturers or finance companies, so it looks like an independent dealership which handles all types of trailer with only the Euroliners page under construction. No prices are listed so any inquiries have to be phoned ore-mailed.

COMMENTS You get the impression that most of H LL Davies' work is done over the phone to established customers. This foray into the Internet is simply for passing trade and those who see the f irmS classified advert and want to locate the company to see what type of trailers it sells.

The two lists of trailers present a disorganised opening page, but once on a selected area, such as curtainsiders, there's plenty of information. It needs more obvious contact details on the top of the opening page next to the strong logo, and the list of trailers needs to be merged into a single area.

The road transport industry is becoming more sophisticated. But when it comes to selling product one-dimensional websites can cut successfully to the quick.

CONCLUSION Basic but jumbled home page leads to an easy-to-navigate site selling most makes of trailers.
