Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Spanish design of air-operated axle lift for steel suspension semi-trailers is now available from Borras Air Lifts of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

The lift, which can be welded or bolted on, uses an extrachannelled cross-member to support a pair of air cylinders mounted between the rear of the spring leaves and the chassis. It is plumbed via a check valve into the emergency (red) air-line.

When operated by a switch in the cab, it exerts the equivalent of 20 tonnes of effort, providing 152mm of piston travel and 100mm of axle lift.

The axle-lift costs 2525 per kit plus VAT and adds 64kg to the vehicle's weight. It can be fitted in less than four hours.
