Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE PROBLEM maximising vehicle load without the risk of over loading at sites remote fron official weighbridges can no be overcome with the High wayman.

This comprises a cell mad up of metal and elastomeri materials. It is located in fluid-filled cavity connecte by a conduit to a calibrate read-out tube which is in th handle of the device.

Through fixed points on th metal top and bottom plate: the load is applied to the cc and measured by the displaci ment of fluid in the read-ot tube.

All that is needed to weig a two-axle vehicle accurate] is one Highwayman, a dumm: and a level surface.

The driver sets the read-ot tube at zero, drives one whe of his vehicle on to the low . bearing platform of the Higl wayman, with the dumm positioned under the opposi wheel.

Once this reading has be taken, the positions of ti Highwayman and the dumn are reversed, and a reading fl the opposite wheel taken. TI sum of the two readings giv. the total axle weight.

Each unit costs under 0, and is available from Ma) load Products Ltd, 2 Cowl, Road, Nuffield Industrial E tate, Poole, Dorset BH17 7U.1
