Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SIMPLE and inexpensive jacking r–k system for its range of Litex insulated and refrigerated containers has been introduced by Smith's Delivery Vehicles Ltd., Gateshead on Tyne. This will allow operators who have no crane facilities to make full use of the flexibility offered by the container in easy transfer from one chassis to another.

The four bottom corners of Litex containers are fitted with reinforced channels into which jacking bars slide. When the container is to be lifted each bar is withdrawn to allow a specially designed " jacking pedestal unit ", with a telescopic height adjustment, to fit below it. The actual lifting is done by hydraulic jacks, inserted at the bottom of tht pedestal and easily removable. Fittings at the top end of the lifting rams register with the jacking bars and prevent any possibility of slipping-off.

If each pedestal is equipped with an hydraulic jack, it is claimed that one man can lift any size of container in two or

three minutes. However, if operators wish to lift off containers only on odd occasions, the expense of having more than one jack can be saved by simply transferring the jack from one pedestal to the other during the lifting operation and making use of intermediate stops provided on the lifting rams.
