Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Borders Regional Council has tested a prototype Whale Tankers drop-in gritter which has led to full production of the model.

The gritter's belt and rotating .spinner are hydraulically driven by a rear-mounted auxiliary diesel engine with electronic control of the salt spread operated from the cab.

Adjustable subframe extensions on the hopper ensure the 4m.' model fits regular tippers of 14 tonnes GVW and above.

There is also a larger 6m3 unit for tippers of 17 tonnes GVW.

To load the gritter stability is first maximised by adjusting the glitter body subframe to fit within the tipper body panels. Once aligned the tipper is partially raised and then reversed under the hopper. After making direct contact with rollers under the front of the unit, its front legs retract and the tipper lifts and drops the gritter into position. Finally the rear legs are folded away manually and the unit is secured by ratchet straps.

Both units are self-contained and are delivered complete with legs for storage.
