nsulated Transport), operates rom Keynsham, near Bristol, lauling meat products hroughout Europe. During last vinter's cold spell, he fully .ealised the worth of the IVebasto in-cab heaters that are itted to a number of his fehicles.
In preparation for this winter le took the latest addition to his leet, a 1628 Mercedes-Benz ractive unit, to Lucas Service's 3ristol depot, one of 30 Lucas )ranches appointed as Webasto listributors, to have an HL 2011 :ab-heater installed.
The compact dimensions of he I-111' 2011 high-performance lir heater makes it suitable for nstallation within the restricted iimensions of the modern fleeper cab. If you wish, it can be itted outside but it then needs iucting to distribute the warm lir.
It runs on diesel or gasoll, :onsuming about half a pint per lour and is primarily intended for use overnight when the vehicle's engine is dormant. However, in cold weather it is very useful when the vehicle is working lightly such as in heavy traffic conditions, on docks or at loading bays, and only a small amount of heat is being generated by the engine. It gives off 2.3kW of heat.
As it has a time switch included in the installation, you can programme the heater to turn on early in the morning an hour or so before starting off on a journey.
Simple electric circuits can ensure reliability, easy maintenance and low electrical consumption thus minimising battery drain.
Webasto also manufactures a range of diesel burning water heaters which give the benefit of the air heater, plus engine preheating, and eliminate heavy battery loading during starting as well as heavy engine wear and poor fuel consumption associated with cold running.
Price for the HL 2011 heater is about £450, depending on the exact installation requirements.
It'll put an end to drivers complaining "I can't get no calefaction."
