Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I REFER to the article entitled "Honi soit qui mai y pense" that was published in CM August 14.

I am quite sure you have either misquoted or misunderstood our Director General. There are two glaring mistakes that the article's writer has made: Firstly, the "wounds" to which he refers were nothing to do with the Royal Corps of Transport. It was a completely different organisation involved in that matter.

Secondly, the ACT does not lose 80 drivers in fatal accidents annually. Statistics show that in 1980/81 the whole Army worldwide suffered only 12 deaths in Road Traffic Accidents. In the year 1981/82 the figure was 11.

As one of the RCT's elite band of Master Drivers, I feel very strongly that this article has presented my Corps in a bad light. Therefore I request that you recheck your facts and rectify this matter in your next publication.

R. GRANT, RCT British Forces Hong Kong Facts rechecked and confirmed, Sir. Ed.
