ADEQUATE credit facilities on what always appear to be favourable terms are available to our local authorities for the acquisition •of vehicles and, of course, other necessary equipment. After investigating the Situation in relation to the purchase of a Thames refuse collector, however, Turton (Lanes) U.D.C. has decided to lease this appliance on a fiveyear contract, an arrangement that they say will leave them nearly £700 better off than employing the " usual channels ". Their rental will be £160 per quarter and, after the expiry of five years, the payments will fall to a merely nominal amount.
