Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW automatic coupling developed from the model produced by Hands (Letchworth) Ltd. for many years iS-to be shown for the first time at Earls Court, Having two safety factors, it represents a considerable step forward. The first safety device is built into the landing gear and prevents the all-too-frequent occurrence of nosediving. If, by mischance or misuse, the landing gear does not lock in the correct landing position then the undercarriage lowers to a secondary position beyond which it cannot go no matter What the condition. When the trailer reaches this position it is still possible to connect Lip to the tractive unit, thus eliminating the need for workshop equipment to get the trailer off its knees.

At the same time that the undercarriage starts to lower, Ind when the coupling-gear ramp-rollers have been 7eleased and have travelled about 1-5 in. along the ramps, I system of automotive braking comes into operation. This s powered by two massive coil springs which are comnessed to give, at the worst condition of brake adjustment,

joint pressure of 700 p.s.i. and it is claimed that this ipplies emergency braking ranging from -25g at the worst t.ondition of adjustment to .5g at the best.
