Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FORMER Renault general manager involved in used truck sales who complained his job was affected by cutbacks has lost a compensation case — because his claim was made too late.

Jeffrey HiggsofWolverhampton made claims at Birmingham Employment Tribunal for unfair dismissal, breach of contract and unauthorised deduction of wages against Renault Trucks Commercials' Tipton branch.

He alleged he was owed £2,500 hut this claim was withdrawn during the Tribunal hearing after the firm said the amount had been included in a £9,872 redundancy payment.

Renault successfully opposed the claims after complaining they had been registered with the Tribunal after its three-month deadline. Tribunal chairman David Dimbylow said the claims had been made 17 days too late.

Christopher Hammond, the firm's branch director and general manager, said Higgs had been made redundant after more than three years in the job, and that a budget for one of his sections had been over £5,000 below target.
