A MERICA'S "big five car and lorry

producers--as distinct from those concerns which make commercial vehicles only—continue to show a bigger percentage increase in production in the commer cial field than in cars. At the end of September their combined car production was up by 7 per cent, while lorry output climbed by as much as 18 per cent over that during the first nine months of 1962. One company, Ford, had produced 313,777 commercial vehicles by September 30, beating its previous record of 287,574 units which was established in the 1929 period.
