A T Leeds last week the Yorkshire rA Traffic Commissioners granted fare increases to Halifax Corporation, Huddersfield Corporation and British Railways Board.

Mr. M. Scott, deputy town clerk of Halifax. said that both groups of Halifax transport wished to meet a rising cost in .expenditure resulting from wage increases. The Corporation proposed to increase the -31d. fare to 4d. and the 4d, fare to 5d. Additional revenue would be about £28.000 a aear.

The Huddersfield Corporation and R.R. proposed increases of !A. on fares up to Is, 4d. and Id. above Is. 4d., plus adjustments to protective, child rcn's and scholars' fares. The increases would yield a total of more than £25.000 in a full year.

The North Western Commissioners on Monday granted increases affecting about half the charges in the Manchester Corporation fares latructure. The Commissioners were told that some £684,000 extra revenue should accrue from the increases.
