Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ctmitnins' M11 engine, launched in the US four months ago, has made a surprise European debut—in a coach. Van Hoot Akron has fitted the Mll in a six-wheeled coach chassis, built in Europe but destined for the US.

The chassis is fitted with the higher powered version of the M11, producing 231kW (310hp) and 1,559Nm (1,1501bft) of torque in cruise mode, or 276kW (370hp) and1,830Nm (1,3501bft) in performance mode. Power is transmitted via an Allison HT 470 gearbox.

No European truck manufacturer has yet opted for the M11: Cummins plans to launch it officially in time for the Euro-2 emissions limits for 1995/6. However, some manufacturers are already offering Euro-2 engines and the Mll could make its European truck debut if specified by a manufacturer before the Euro2 deadline.

As reported last week, Foden hopes to be the first European truck manufacturer to take the 11-litre Cummins,

The 11-litre diesel is based on the 10-litre LI O. It features Cummins' Electronic Smart Power (ESP), based on the Celect electronic engine man

agement system launched a year ago on the L10 and 14-litre N14 engine. ESP is also available on US versions of the N14; it boosts power and torque for hill-climbing.
