Renault VI has signed a joint venture agreement with Czech bus and coach builder Karosa.
The company will be known as Karosa SA; Renault's initial 34% stake will eventually rise to 51%. The Karosa range will be updated using Renault components; the company will also assemble medium and heavy trucks in the Czech republic. These vehicles are likely to be existing Renault models over 15 tonnes GVW which will be sold in Eastern Europe; production will probably begin in the next 18 months.
The deal opens up the possibility of Renault trucks being built in the Czech republic. It will be financed through a fiveyear ..C.20m investment plan.
