Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SETTING out to provide the southwest of Scotland with a complete laundry, dyeing and cleaning service, Bowie's Associated Services, Ltd., finds road transport indispensable, and expresses the view that " Morris-Com

mercials are ideal for our work. We have tried other makes, but to-day our fleet is 100 per cent. Morris-Commercial." What manufacturer could receive a better testimony than this from the company's transport manager? The company completely covers the south-west of Scotland and serves about two-thirds of the country's population. In all, 40 Morris-Commercials, each averaging over 300 miles per week, and including models up to 2 tons—some of the vehicles having been delivered in March, 1026—maintain a service to the public.

Whilst the mileage may seem on the low side, it should be remembered that the vans are employed on a collecting service from Bowie's own shops in a congested city area, or, alternatively, are engaged in house-to-house collections. A few of the vans engaged in the vountry, however, do more than double this mileage.

It is the policy of the company each year to replace the older vehicles with six new Morris-Commercials, specific models being chosen for different purposes. The body of the Vale of Leven van is painted to represent scenes from the world-famous Loch Lomond-side. None of the vehicles has given serious trouble and, whilst the manufacturer can claim some of the credit for this, no vehicle will maintain a troublefree routine unless it be efficiently serviced. Adjustments are done monthly in a workshop at one of the laundries by the company's own mechanics. In addition to the monthly inspection, each vehicle is overhauled annually. In the cab of each van a small printed notice is fixed, which informs the driver when the next monthly inspection for his machine becomes due. This feature not only ensures that the vehicles turn up on time, but allows the driver to arrange his work accordingly.

Naturally, the overlaaul is looked upon as a big job and one of the three spare vans, kept for emergency, is used as a deputy vehicle until the van under repair returns to the road.

To this company the Morris-Commercial unit-replacement system comes as a boon in all rush replacement work.
