J. K. Isaac has been appointed director of operations of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive. He will succeed F. A. Moffatt, who on June 1 becomes director-general of the Merseyside PTE. Mr Isaac has been traffic manager of Midland Red for the last four years. He began his career as a BET trainee.
H. Grigor has been promoted Boston branch manager of EIRS Parcels Ltd. R. C. Fookes becomes maintenance superintendent, N. Francis & Co Ltd. He was previously maintenance foreman at the Stratford branch of BRS Parcels. His appointment follows the retirement of H. R. W. Coale.
Jeremy Watts, 26, has been appointed company secretary and personnel officer to the Powell Duffryn Group company PD Wharfage & Transport Ltd, of Shoreham, Sussex, in succession to Geoffrey Walker who has joined the company's wharfage division.
Roger J. Dixon has been appointed National Travel (NBC) Ltd operations manager, south-east area. Mr Dixon joined East Kent as assistant traffic manager in 1970. C. A. Hodges, at present operating manager at Victoria for National Travel and manager, Samuelson New Transport Ltd, will take up duties from June 1 as terminal and airport service manager. Other appointments include: Cecil J. Fenton as tours superintendent (East Anglia); Bruce Croswell as tours superintendent (London). Kenneth L. Newman, at present manager Tillings Travel (NBC) Ltd has taken up duties as operations superintendent (East Anglia): Mr Newman was with Midland Red for 18 years before joining Eastern National in 1970.
John Kershaw Bevan, md of Hargreaves Vehicle Distributors Ltd, has been appointed an executive director of the parent board of Hargreaves Group Ltd, Bramham, Wetherby, Yorks, Terence Scott, traffic manager of Coopers Road Services (1972) Ltd of Wednesbury, Staffs, has been appointed a director. Daniel Williams steps up to garage foreman.
W. M. L. Gunning, 39, has been promoted from assistant traffic manager (operating and planning) to assistant traffic manager of the South Wales Transport Co Ltd in succession to Idris Thomas who has retired (CM April 27).
Roger Phillips, 29, has been promoted chief designer for Centrax Gears Ltd.
Kenneth Kermack, after 10 years with Telehoist, has joined Southern Transport (Service) Enterprises Ltd, Cranbrook, Kent, as service engineer for the West Country.
Owen Hansford, 34, has been promoted assistant distribution manager at Whiteways of Whimple Ltd.
Rodney J. Hawkins, 31, deputy chief engineer of Midland Red, becomes chief engineer of Eastern National Omnibus Co Ltd on June 1.
