LHT Logistics reports 33% rise in pallet throughput

FORTEC MEMBER LHT Logistics has bounced hack from a tough year to report a 33% increase in its February volumes.

The Chingford, Essex-based business says it handled approximately 80 pallets a night during February, compared with an average of 60 for the same month last year.

Ben Ruby, MD of the family-run firm, tells CM that in November 2008, it lost a major contract after electrical appliances wholesaler Bridisco went into administration.

The Bridisco loss came just after we had moved to our new depot from Edmonton. It was extremely unfortunate timing," says Ruby. "I spent last year knocking on doors to drive sales forward, hut took advantage of Fortec's sales team, so I did not have to employ people full-time to win business for us."

LHT has added two new trucks to its 10-strung fleet, as well as winning a major new account with a food firm to deliver to Licll DCs.

The company has won several new clients since January, and says more are in the pipeline. Meanwhile, for the year ending 30 April. turnover is expected to be up 10% on last year.
